speedometer change
The change from the oval speedometer to the round one occurred in 1930. Is there an estimated date or serial number when this change was cut in?

Re: speedometer change
The round speedometer was introduced in June 1930. (RG&JS page 6-3 revised 2011)
It will also be acceptable to use the pre-existing part for as two (2) months after that date on vehicles and six (6) months on AA commercial vehicles. (RG&JS page7 revised 2011)

Re: speedometer change
As I understand, the fuel tank will only take the round, if it originally had a round speedometer, and if the car had an oval originally, then you can only use an oval speedometer.
Please educate me, if I am wrong. I am trying to learn. My car is a May car, and currently has a round speedometer, however I thought it should have an oval speedometer, which I was told, will bolt up to my fuel tank. |

If you want to change to Oval Speedo you must replace the gas tank with one that will accomodate the Oval Speedo Dash Panel. The Oval Dash Panel and the Round Dash Panel will not interchange.

Thank you for the education. It takes the wisdom of others, to keep this hobby going, accurately. Some things cannot be found in books.

Re: speedometer change
Most commonly, 30 standard roadsters are restored into DeLuxe. If it has an oval speedo you must change the tank and get a round as DeLuxe didn't come out till after the switchover.
