I posed this question over on the Hamb and thought I'd also post it here.

I bought a 1934 Ford BB heavy truck a couple years ago and it came sporting a cowl band. I haven't seen one on any other 34 trucks and was wondering if anyone knew if the band was original equipment or an aftermarket part.

Maybe your truck is titled a '34, but judging from your first photo your cab is a '33.

Yes the band is chrome. Here is another BB truck with the same band.

Here is a picture of a BB truck with no band. It seems like the band moves the hood forward.

Yes, moves the hood 7/8" forward. And move the radiator, hood latches won't line up, splash apron, etc. Bought one, can't use it on my p-kup. Thinking maybe it's for a firetruck, or bus.
