39 accelerator pedal

My pedal keeps leaning to the right. I can push it back to straight up and down, but it eventually leans back over. Is there a clamp under or on firewall that can be tightened to maintain the rod in proper position?

There is a raised rubber receptacle with a small hole into which the accellerator rod fits. Use dish soap to slip into position. The the base of the pedal bolts to the floor. A new pedal will solve your problem.

Thanks My pedal is locked on the rod. But rod has a lot of movement.

Make sure the bolt is tight at the base and also check for play in the hinge at the base of the pedal.

As said above, the hinge and attaching fastener keeps the pedal "square". The rod has pivots at each end and is not intended to hold it in place.

I think the hinge pin is usually the culprit.

Guys, guys, guys... authentic (read: CORRECT) pedals have two ends bent over on the metal plate that is ultimately bolted to the floor board. When the pedal is fastened to the wooden floor board, the ends are driven in to the wood. Thus, the pedal can't rotate.
Repop pedals do not have this feature. Of course, it would be easy enough to modify a repop pedal.

I just can't recall how mine was before I replaced it.

I don't have a photo of what you are seeking. There's a staked nut within the wood floor board. One bolt with lock washer goes through the pedal "hinge" and in to the staked nut. That holds the pedal TO the floor board. The two bent corners of the pedal "hinge" are what keeps the pedal from pivoting.
