2019 Iola Pictures
Thought I would post some pics of my day at the Iola Old Car Show and Swap Meet. Iola is a town of 1300 people located in Central Wisconsin abut 2 hours north of where I live. I hit the road before 5 a.m. and after traveling on 4 lanes till the last 10 miles or so made it to the swap an hour or so after opening. Although advertised as a 6 a.m. start there were lots of tables and things on the ground still covered in tarps with no vendors in sight. Hard to get the early bird deals when no ones around. Spent many hours looking and walking, met a few barn members and bought just a few items. My goal was a set of 1938 Wisconsin plates which I did purchase. There is a vendor named PL8 GUYS that claimed to have 7000 just Wisconsin plates and looking at the milk crates they had it might be true. Another vendor I encountered earlier wanted $85.00 for a pair but the ones I purchased from PL9 GUYS went for $34.00, just a little savings. These will go on my '38 Convertible after a little clean up. Thanks again to Barn members Juergen and Dave/Green Bay for the hospitality and the cold beverages.

Re: 2019 Iola Pictures
As far as most of the grilles and fenders I posted they belong to one vendor. He knows what he has, is priced very high and did not have a card to offer(I did ask). Lives in Westfield,Wisconsin and is not nice to deal with from all my encounters, maybe someone else has a better relationship than myself.

Re: 2019 Iola Pictures
Just for reference, the 37 grille in Mr. Krassman's collection has an ask of $1600. I didn't get the sense that any negotiations were welcomed.

Re: 2019 Iola Pictures
Sorry, don't remember, maybe someone else saw it. I was going pretty fast over a 10 hour time frame and didn't get to see everything. They promote that there are 4,200 swap spaces available. There was however a few empty sections on Thursday when I was there and even some tables with tarps on them all day?

Re: 2019 Iola Pictures
Daryl is a tad abrasive. There used to be a guy who set up at Iola fairly close to him who felt obligated to try to one-up Daryl on the obnoxious and vulgar scale. I used to run into Daryl at Moultrie, Charlotte, Iola and seems like in Florida. We were never really friends but we got to know each other. I usually came walking up to him asking how my favorite charm school dropout was doing. It's been several years since I have gone to Iola and I don't think he comes south any more or if he does I haven't seen him at Charlotte or Moultrie. He usually has nice stuff but I have had people I know turn around and walk away because of the things he has said to them and the way he said them.
