Most of us, if not all, would like to have the front end assembly, when attached to the front cross member and measured from equal points, A to B, left and right, be almost equal.
However sometimes they are not equal. In other words, pick a point on the front end (A) and measure to a "given" point (B) on the frame, left and right. They should be equal or darn near close to it but sometimes they are not. With that said...Just how much of a tollerence is acceptable if one can not adjust the "problem", if in fact it is a problem, to get to where both sides are equal? 1/16"?, 2/16"?, 3/16"? Thanks. Pluck

Before trying to get that exact on the bumper measurement, put a bag of beans or something similar to 3/4 of the weight of the average weight of a 1929 adult male in the drivers seat. Common practice for alignment if going by the book.

When doing alignments If the vehicle is used mostly by one person I leave the pass door open. Of course for crowned roads I set camber and sometimes caster different on each side. |
