The first color photograph made by the three-color method suggested James Clerk Maxwell in 1855.

So color photos go way back before 1900... let alone WWII.

Anyway, Mike V FLA, great shots... Folks surely dressed better years ago than they do today...

31Abone, I was thinking they were colorized but I could not find any bleed over from one part to the next of color. I know things were shot in color and then reprinted in B&W which is why I thought they were originally color shots. But then again now with computers who knows anymore.

Did anyone notice the blanket like material custom fitted to fit the hood on the crashed vehicle? It even looks like it has a radiator shroud that's rolled up. Maybe to keep things warmed up in the wintery weather. I prably wouldn't have noticed that in a b&w photo.

I agree. Definitely colorized black and white image. Notice how the color of the side walk bleeds into the light brown dirt, and how the dirt color over writes part of the tree root. Also colored areas are too consistent. A patch of dirt actually contains a huge variety of color. The best way to do this would use a real color photo of dirt as the source of color information for the patch of B&W dirt your colorizing. Yes I'm quite comfortable with Photoshop.

To bring this back to the model A, Last summer I had a chance to go 120mph in a 1929 Ford! OK, it was a Ford Tri-motor. But at xmas time I thought it would be nice if I could put together images of my old 28 Model A Huckster and the Tri-motor in a winter scene. So using Photoshop I did just that. I think it came out OK.

The wreck photo is interesting. Looks like the car spun into its final resting spot: that's the right rear wheel laying flat under the front end next to the fence. (See the chains on it and the same on the left rear still on the car.)

You see side walk color bleeding into the dirt, I see reflections of a gray, wet sky in the water. I see dirt disturbed, probably by the accident, slopping onto the side walk.

(Oh, well, that's what I WANT to see! )

And isn't the driver giving us all the single digit salute?
