Door Ease and toilet setting wax rings are made from bees wax.
I'd lubricate the brass pocket and door latch with some.

I never thought of using beeswax--I have been used "door ease" for years--I guess the toilet wax ring is probably cheaper. Ya learn something new everyday!!

Fred,
Pictures 9 and 13 show the dovetail, not the bottom bumper. Did you reverse the bottom rubber pieces. Maybe I am confused between what you reversed. Did you only reverse the dovetail rubber pieces?

Only reversed the dove tail rubber parts.

I have not installed the very bottom rubber bumpers yet. Ihave not installed the top bumpers either. I know that the bottom bumpers will need some trimming to get them to fit correctly and I may glue them in place. (I work on a 30 Coupe sometimes and the bottom bumpers seem to fall off occasionally!)

I know this is an older thread, but I'm just getting to replacing the rubber bumpers in my doors. The old ones no longer had any rubber like qualities to them and had petrified into something that took quite a bit of work to dig out. I haven't tried to install the new ones, but I'm sure the info in this thread will make it easier. I have a new found respect for the person(s) who stood on the assembly line for a long day and little pay installing these.

Thanks for the info in this post, I wasn't sure how to get the dovetail guides it. The alcohol made the rubber slippery and with a little twisting and force the brass just popped in.

I ordered a door bumper kit for my 1930 Tudor that was listed as being for 1930 and 1931. When trying to install them I found the brass clip was too long to fit in the pocket of the door. The depth of the pocket is 5/8 inch and the clips are 3/4 inch long. Looking at the photo in post #9, the clips in the kit I purchased were not used until early 1931 and my 1930 should be using the clips shown as 3-B1. I contacted the vendor, but haven't received a response yet.

Has anyone else run into this?
