Thanks Tinker, I know about the Billet Proof Drags in Lakeland, been there and done that, albeit not with the Zephyr... LOL. I've got a wedding this weekend that is taking up Saturday & Sunday , or I'd be in Dawsonville, GA at the Moonshine Festival... I'll be posting info on the 2016 Florida "Barner's Bash" as soon as we have a weekend selected. Hopefully you will be able to make it to the "Bash". Have fun at the Drags.

Tinker, Yes, it's ok, everyone is invited to the "Barner's Bash" and you don't need to drive a Flathead to the event. As we get things firmed up I'll continue to post information both here and on the Cigar City Flatheads FaceBook page. Hope you can make it.

As for the wedding... We'll see LOL

The good thing (I guess) is, the price of gas has come down recently. The bad thing is, the price of oil has gone up... I got very ambitious the other day and decided to change the oil & filters on several of our Flatheads... I went to the auto parts store and bought ten quarts of oil (they had a special where you could get an oil filter for free with the purchase of five quarts of a particular name brand of oil). I also bought some MMO, Engine Restorer (I use it in the LZ V-12), Brake Cleaner, and Gear Oil, all on sale. When I got to the check out, the bill came to over $100.00!!!

Oh well, I guess what they say is true; if you want to play, you've got to pay...

Vic,
Any idea on the Bash dates? Lots of interest at the Wzorek homestead. Need to give my in-laws some idea of when we're coming so they can rent some ramps for there house to get me inside.

Hi Bill,

Nothing firm as yet, let me know what works best for you and we'll see if we can put things together around those dates. Before I forget, Happy Halloween, Trick or Treat.

That narrows it down a bit... LOL I'll see what we can do. Hopefully we'll come up with firm dates in a few weeks.

The fun just never ends... This past Saturday I drove the '39 LZ up to the Hot Rod breakfast in Spring Hill, just over 50 miles. The car ran fine going up, and on the return trip however, when I pulled into my driveway and shut the ignition off I heard a bang from under the hood... I inspected things under the hood and didn't see anything amiss so, I fired her up and pulled into the garage. when I shut her off again, the same noise... Mike and Keith came over this morning and I fired the LZ up while they watched things under the hood. Keith spotted the problem right away... the fan assembly had come loose and was spinning at an angle.

Several years ago I had the radiator rebuilt and at that time I inspected the fan assembly, everything looked ok at that time. The LZ's fan was redesigned for the '39 - '49 V-12. The blade assembly fits into a (for lack of a better term) cup like assembly. Between the fan and the cup is a molded rubber cushion. The fan assembly was made this way to reduce vibration. Unfortunately, the rubber is not reproduced and apparently no one has come up with a 'fix' for the problem when the rubber (now 76 years old) no longer functions... So, I need a good fan assembly for a '39 - '48 Lincoln Zephyr or Continental, or some ideas as to how I might be able to recondition the fan I've got... As always, help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Lawson, even though I was born in Atlanta, I don't spell my name with a K, imagine that... LOL I have no doubt that I'll fix the fan if I can't find a replacement... Isn't that part of the fun of messin' with Flatheads...

Vic, I will look for photo's of my 39, it did the same thing, Don P and I placed fan back in position in the rubber, then we drilled three holes and used 1/4" bolts/locks/nuts and bolted it in place. It works great, never a problem, original was held by vulcanized rubber and friction. Now it is centered by the old rubber and held with bolts, look at the thread on my LZ, Bruce
