Default brake lines ?

I am replacing brake lines on my chassis and I need to connect two length of 3/16 line. Can I use a compression o ring fitting or must I double flare both ends? I think I heard compression rings are a no no? But its been a long time since I have done this kind of thing.

There is a fitting that accepts flare lines that you can connect the two lines.

Needs to be double flare. A compression fitting is not designed for that much pressure.

Absolutely do not use a compression fitting. Suicide waiting to happen. Use a union fitting that will accept the flared fittings.

I got my brake lines at NAPA,they had a fitting for that purpose, worked on both our 38s for years, its just a coupling that the fittings screws into, the lines had the fittings on them
