Cool Boat tail speedster plans

After i sell some stuff, and save up enough money im going to build a speedster. I like the look of the boat tail speedsters with the two 40's truck hoods put together, or the other custom made bodies. I was wondering if some of you guys could post some pics of yalls speedsters in the building process, and how yall made the boat-tail part of it, and how yall mounted it to the frame

thanks,
Logan

Is there any kind of support brackets on the inside of the hoods? or is the welds strong enough to keep it together?

There are no support brackets inside the hoods on my car (Blue Speedster). The bottom hood is cut to mount to the frame and the sides have sheet metal attached for a better look along the side and to go up past the door opening. All that is finished (fiberglass & bondo).

There are braces and a panel behind the seats to keep the front of the hoods secure, and there is also a small door to get inside the area for limited storage. It is open all the way to the back, but I can't reach that far back.

I have seen some that have hinges on the top hood so it opens as a trunk. They also installed latches similar to hood latches, don't look real neat, but functional. I would think it would rattle and move about.

I am leaving for Casper (Pony Express Tour) in the morning. When I get back I can try to get some pictures of the underside and inside the "trunk" area for you ig you would like.

Bob, i would love to see pics of the underside of the hoods, and how you cut the hoods to mount up to the frame flush with the frame.

Hello Logan- I have one of those "two-hood" speedster bodies that may be for sale. It belongs to a customer that is having me replace it with one of my bodies. With his permission and if you're interested, I'll send you pics and price or have him contact you. Jim Huseby www.olympic-speedsters.com

hello

My Model A club (Adirondack A's Model A Club, Upstate, New York) looking for Speedster boattail plans for a youth group project.

Do you have plans that you could share? We are also in need of technical advice (e-mail & phone) regarding wood material, bending and fastening approaches that you may have used.
We are looking to kick off the project in October and using a local Ford dealership as a work site.
My work number is 888-869-3535
Thank you for any help

Here's a wooden boat tail speedster just to stir things up. Looks nearly floatable.
