Default 47 Serial Number to Original Paint Color

Merry Christmas to all,

I've got three 1947 Ford 1/2 ton pickups that I am trying to determine the original paint colors. My grandfather painted one truck black after he bought it from a neighbor. I can see the original color on the back of the door panels. My best guess looking at various sources for paint color chips narrows it down to 2 or 3 potential colors.

Does anyone know if there is a database that can be used to match a serial number to the original paint color?

Thank you in advance.

The serial number on the EFV8' is nothing more than just that, a serial number. The first two numbers denote that the vehicle was a V8 or a six, that is the extent of the info that Ford documented.

I’ll ditto the above. My recently purchased 47 had been resprayed red but was originally green. I’m guessing it’s Village Green which is I believe a darker shade than the Meadow Green I have on my later 50/51 trucks. On the 48-51s some have is a cowl stamping that allows the original color code to be deciphered. On late 51 and 52s the color is coded on the data plate. On my 47 the only info aside from the Serial Number is the LOU code signifying the Louisville factory. Stu

TCP Global has old Dupont, Nason, and Ditzler paint chip charts listed on their site for cars and trucks in multiple eras. You can find an original color but that doesn't mean that there is a modern paint that uses those names or codes. This is the link.
