Default '32 hood hinge

I'm using a repro 4 piece hood on my '32 sedan. What finish do people use on the two hinge rods? Should they be plated/painted or just oiled?
Thanks.

They were plain steel originally, but I plate mine (cadmium). A little white grease might be less messy than oil.

Stainless are available, that is what I used on my 34 pickup.
