Default removing white residue from wax/polish

As the title says, my new to me 29 Tudor has some chips and scratches, and it is ( I think) andulisite blue with of course black fenders. the defects would be much less visible if I could get rid of the white left from waxes.

what would be the best product to remove it, and what is good to rewax without the white powder. Maybe just spray wax?

Dip a soft toothbrush in water & scrub it out & wipe with a damp towel. To keep the brush WET, stuff the bristles with DRYER LINT! The Lint also makes GREAT, FUN, Mustaches.
How to KNOW If you're gettin' OLD: Whatever??? Color "T" Shirt you're wearing, will ALWAYS make GREY Belly Button LINT!--REALLY, just try it yourself, it's like a PHENOMENEN! ( The Dog cain't seem to find his belly button????)

Believe it or not, more polish will take off the excess...

"the defects would be much less visible if I could get rid of the white left from waxes."

Are we talking wax residue that wasn't buffed properly or dull paint?

"what is good to rewax without the white powder"

Any good quality carnuba wax will work - I personally like Meguiar's

I have this problem on my new truck around the stickers and such - use a mr clean magic eraser (store brand works just as well) a few quick rubs and its gone. Also works wonders if you get that wax on textured plastic and rubber seals.

Exclamation Re: removing white residue from wax/polish

I would not use Mr Clean Magic Eraser on any painted or glossy surface, it has abrasives that will scratch the finish......

im not saying treat it like sandpaper just a quick little rub will do - doesnt take much pressure at all. Hasnt scratched my truck yet and since its black it would show like crazy.

Treat it like your wiping your glasses.

I am talking about the wax that gets into the cracks and crevices around chips in the paint. Any wax that dries white before buffing it out will leave it.

I think I will try different liquids and a toothbrush. Think I will start with simple or mean green, if that doesn't work maybe mineral spirits, if not that, maybe acetone or wax remover.

Griots has a product specifically for removing the wax residue from cracks, etc. without effecting the paint.

I think many of the things listed will work fine.

Magic eraser made my runabout steering wheel nice and white, while all the other cleaners I tried had little to no effect on the years old dirt and grime. Looks like a new wheel after using the magic eraser. I'd take a picture, but my boat cover is under a lot of snow.

I tried the simple green and a short stiff small paint brush, and it seems to be cleaning it up just fine. I have heard a lot of good things about those magic eraser things. Can't quite figure how they work. Do they have a soap or some sort of cleanser built into them that activates with water, or is it just the abrasiveness of it that does the cleaning. If just the abrasives, why are they any different than a green or red, or yellow scratcher pad.

Use dry all the time - shine up chrome rims nicely. No idea how they work (probably why thier called magic hehe). I think its the foam cell formation as they feel slippery to the fingers and the more you use it it shrivels up.

I use the walgreens brand and they work just fine. Get one and try it on things. Dont use it like a sanding block just somewhat light little scrubbing action - it does the work.

DriWash 'n Guard (available on Amazon, etc.) Classic waterless car wash (not the Ultra Ion garbage) works excellent for removing old wax in paint cracks. Spray on, wipe off and slightly buff. Also leaves a super shiny coating on paint and it looks freshly waxed.

I use DriWash on the Model A's, one of them has original paint. They both always look fabulous. The fordor with original paint won the unrestored class at Concours D' Elegance a year and a half ago. Everyone was asking what I used on the paint.

Do you have any pics of how it looks? Expensive stuff but if it works as good as you say...
