Default Looking for a cheap fix, (Pistons)

I aquired an engine with a .040 overbore that needed valve work. Cool! decided to change rings and plastigauge the journals. More a refreshment than a rebuild. So far everything's look good except for one piston's wrist pin. It's loose and sloppy, clearly needs replacing. Also, I don't like the pistons, too low a deck height. Things aren't right with them. So I want to get a new set of pistons and rods. Unless the wrist pins are all a standard dia. and I can just change them. This is kind of a dilema, do I have to change the rods too and refit the rod bearings? Or can I just rebush the wristpins and use the old rods? How standard are they, how much variation is there in the wrist pin diameters? Thanks in advance.

You should have no problem just installing new wrist pin bushings in the rods, as long as the babbit is good in the rods. You'll probably have to get the new bushings honed to the size of the new wrist pins on the new pistons. I assume the new pistons will come with wrist pins.

Likely not hard to find an oversize wrist pin. I have a set that are .003 over, but thinking I am going to need them for the engine that is currently on the stand. Rod

Have the rods checked for twist before reassembly. 1 loose pin may be a clue to bending.
