Default ‘A’ parts dealer catalogs

I find the Brattons, Snyders, and Berts online catalogs very hard to search through on my iPad. For example: Bratton’s won’t allow a full part description-it stops accepting a typed line at 3-5 characters; Snyders has way too many options to dig through and isn’t Apple Safari compatible; Bert’s doesn’t recognize “radiator shell” as a product, but I know they have them. All three need a good reworking by a knowledgeable commercial website designer!

I am sure you can expect a lot of agreement and very little negativity. What you said is very true.

Snyders changed their website a few years ago but stupidly made it so that it would not recognise a phone number (compulsory field) that was not American. Result - no international customers. They may have changed it again since but I haven't gone back.

Old fashion telephones work great. I have yet to call a supplier (all have 800 #'s) and whomever answered the phone could recall the part # and price giving them a brief description. On your first call give your mailing address and charge info. from then on, all you have to give is your name and zip code and presto the part is shipped the same day if you call in the morning or the next day - if later. I do agree with the above posts and know that most are closed on week ends and some a couple days during the week, if that is your supplier you won't get the part any sooner anyway. Also, suppliers know the cars well and can help over the phone. Bert's discouraged, but didn't deny me ordering a carb without checking certain trouble shooting points - saved me several hundred dollars. Catalogs can't do that but they have illustrations. Branton's has excellent diagrams and pictures. I tossed my others for the above reason, saves cost for someone and helps the enviorement.

I have little problem with any of the three as mentioned. Rather have online than 200 page catalogs
I did a search for “radiator shell” and “grill shell” and selections of 4-5 came right up under both.
I’m using Safari on a IPad
Dunno…. To each their own.

I just did a search of radiator shell on Bert's page and got 21 results spread across two pages. I used Chrome browsers on an iPad and a Samsung Galaxy with the same outcome.

Brattons' predictive text in the search box can be annoying but when you figure out to click back to the search box when it auto populates you get what you need.

In the scheme of things i think we're still lucky to have very quick access to all these vendors and parts.

All the vendors have poor search engines

I don't have this problem with my hard-copy catalog.

I'm with you, Bob...the paper catalog works just fine 100% of the time and is just as portable as an iPad tablet, and does not require a battery.
The Model A is a pretty simple machine, why gum up your parts search with a bunch of electronic internet gizmos? yes, I am over 50.

I am surprised that some guys here, using the same searches that did, which did not work for me, had success. This is when I just throw my hands up and say, “x%$##” technology!

I like printed catalogs, but I also like trees and a less polluted environment. The dealers need to get into the 21st c. and make their websites work.

Was Bert’s shell nickel or chrome?

Seems like the dealers end is working, it is your end that is having the problem.

I feel your pain! To help you I don't search I click on category such as cooling system and then scroll down to the parts I need. Each suppliers sites are different and it takes time playing around to get familiar with each site. They could/should look at Rock Auto's site it's very easy to use, modern car parts that is!
