Default Cross member repair parts for '35

Looking for the piece that goes from the cross member to the outer rail. Who makes 'em??? Other than Joe's Antique Auto.

Thanks!

Thanks, Bruce. Unfortunately, their description says it doesn't fit the original x-member.

Wescott list them, the 78-5048 & 78-5049 frame brace pieces are what you are looking for correct? http://www.wescottsauto.com/WebCatal...09-F-Frame.pdf

Note: Sorry, the 35/36 parts are 48-5048 & 48-5049 in the catalog, the Green Book list them as 78- for 35 on.

Those won't fit Heard's 1935 pick-up......'37 thru '40 only. Plus, Back-Order-Bob strikes again........OUT OF STOCK! Go figure....DD

DD...Yep. I should have been more specific. I just said '35 in my post. Should have said pickup. BUT...I think that may be a misprint in Drake's catalog.

I'm really confused now. The big green book says 78-5048/9 is for 35-41 Pass and Comm. I don't even see a 48-5048/9 in the book. If you look at the Wescott link, it shows separate parts for 48 and 78. Joe's only lists one part and told me it would fit both. Furthermore, Joe's and Wescott are $130 - $150 EACH while Drake is $145/pr. Wut????

Can you not just make your own? they wouldn't be that hard to make, use a bit of c section or weld 3 pieces of metal together to make what you need. I wouldn't be paying $150 for those bits, that's way to expensive for what they are.

I believe PU and Pass. car are the same, 35-36 Ford part number 48-5048 & 9. Precision Coachworks was the place that started making them and since the death of Dave Maher, the parts are now made by another shop, to Daves pattern, they sell through Joes Antique Auto. When Dave made them, they fit like a glove and were 100% correct. I believe the ones sold by Joe's are identical although I have not tried them.

I don't have the parts catalog in front of me but are you talking about the brace from the outer rail to the center of the x member that the exhaust passes through?

I just straightened mine, but I wasn't going for show. You have them off. Go for it. I can do a lot of hammering for $2-300 bucks.

Try Precision Coachworks in Billerica, MA. Phone: (978)663-7573,
email: p[email protected].

I bought a frame piece that supports the '35 battery from them 10 years ago. I think they're still in business.

"I'm really confused now..." The big book is a cumulation of all the years, and frequently gives a substitute/parts counter part. This means that the '37 part fits your car well enough that the '35 part has been dropped. The different number of course means that there are differences...
So this is presumably a part you can use, but one that would not be correct. Given the nature of the part probably the differences are hole placements.

An implication of that is that you need the '28-48 to discover interchange and a '35 or 6 catalog to identify what is original. '28-36 is fairly easy to get. I haven't seen a US 1935 parts catalog...only one I have encountered was Australian.
