the 28 4-banger runs nicely, thank you
Several weeks ago I acquired an October 1928 Model A engine sans accessories. I found much sludge in its tappet galley and in the bottom of the pan. The engine insides were cleaned and re-cleaned and re-recleaned. Then it was reassembled and missing pieces were replaced using those from a cracked B block in my stash, plus some help from four catalog vendors. I mounted it in an engine test stand built several years ago for another project. Today it fired up on the second revolution and there were no bad noises which easily could have been the case, I reckon. I knew bores and bearings were worn. I retorqued the head nuts and am elated. This engine allows me to move my roadster project along until my Burtz 4 banger with a Serr head becomes available.
