There are plenty posts on that subject. Not to be rude...but try using the search feature. You will also find a load of info on The HAMB site...again, try using the search tool... it works.

Here is a link to the Banger site on The HAMB....

the 4 speed is a truck transmission, first gear is compound low, its almost usless for a car because its so lowed geared that its not practical, if you plan on using the car to pull a trailer up steep hills, or work it in the fields then its what you need, save your time and stick with the 3 speed
thats my storey and im sticking to it

The common 4 speed used in a model A is the ford F 150 trans. made in the 80's. fourth gear is overdrive and it is easier on the engine at 50-55. The first three gears are pretty much the same as the A tranny. I have one in my Tudor.

Several people make kits with the adapters and transmission. I got mine from Dave Delmue. LINK http://modelaonly.com/about_us

At least two other people make kits. They all have good reputations and feedback. The ones that use an AA belhousing like Dave don't require cutting the rear crossmember.

Just don't get in a hurry with Dave -- I ordered (and paid for) one back in December and still don't have it.

Try Ken Parker [email protected] he is a frequent poster here.
