Default 29 Tudor rear rubber mat question

I purchased a new rear rubber floor mat and if I line up the holes in the floor where the front seats attach then I have several inches of the mat that now curve up onto the rear seat support.

I this normal??

No. I have an original rear mat in my Tudor& it lies flat & is located by brass studs on the metal floor railings. You would have to probably punch holes in the repro mat. The front edge of the mat goes under the rear seat feet of the front seats.

So the rear edge of the mat does not curve up onto the rear seat support like in my photo.

Because the mats are not manufactured exactly like the original print.

Does anyone sell mats that fit?

Brattons evidently doesn't!!

The rear mat on my '29 Tudor measures 37-1/2" from the rear edge to the front. It came from Standard Auto, a company that I believe is no longer in business.

Fred, out of curiosity what does your mat measure? Bratton's should be a pretty good source. Your car is a 29. I see from the vendors that there is a different mat for the 28/29 versus a 30/31. Is it possible that a 30/31 is larger and you got the wrong one shipped?

The Bratton's catalog only shows one rear mat for 28-31 Tudors.
I talked with Jeff at Bratton's and he told me that the rear mat is supposed to curve up onto the rear seat support. I find that hard to believe! It looks stupid!

Fred,

I have not forgot on that measurement!!!

You are right...It look stupid and is not correct. Request a refund and get the right one from Snyders.

Snyders calls out that there are two rear floor mats for Tudors...not one as Brattons says.

A-2055-289 for 28-29

A-2055-301 for 30-31.

Both $59.95 each

There was two different mats originally, - A-55240-B(R) for the 55A, and A-55240-C for the 55B. As I stated above, my experience is the reproduction mat's measurements do not coincide with the original print.

The rear mat that I purchased from Bratton's is 39-5/8" front to back.

A mat that measures 37-1/2" looks like it would be perfect.

I just talked with Jeff at Bratton's and he is going to have me return both front and rear mats. He is emailing me a return label.

One thing that I would like to say about Bratton's. I have dealt with them for the past 11+ years and they have always been very good about returns. They have always been fair with me and I really appreciate their business ethics. Thanks Jeff.

For the 1930-31's, the rear seat was shortened by approx. 2" to give the impression that more area was provided than the previous Tudors. Ford actually stated the New Tudor was roomier than the previous model!
Glad you got it sorted out.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

I was getting slightly frantic since the floor mats are what I needed to finish the interior. I figured that it would be a simple purchase and bam I would be just about finished with this car. It's always something!!

I ordered new mats from Snyder's I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!

I am near completion with my 29 Tudor. I bought the Classtique kit and I decided to have an upholstery friend do the seats and the headliner. I just finished the kick panels and the windlace. My windlace job leaves a bit to be desired, but maybe it will shape up when the rear quarter panels go in. The mats from Snyders fit except the front is about 1/8 too wide, so I will probably need to do some trimming. The rear fits real nice.

The mats from Snyder's fit real well in the rear. The front mat was a struggle. Looks to me like the engine/trans needs to go forward about about 3/16". But I guess that is not going to happen.

I am assuming you are speaking of the emergency brake handle and the transmission shifter where they protrude thru the floor needs to be moved forward to align with other features. Seems like I read on this thread where there is an issue with the mats not matching the dimensions of the original print(s).
