Re: felt pedal pad
Could I have installed mine incorrectly, or have a defective felt? Seems like in only a few weeks the openings expanded and/or the pad shifted, causing it be virtually worthless for sealing out dirt and air.

Re: felt pedal pad
My system works just fine. Felt pad, then metal plates, then rubber floor mat, then large bath towel wrapped around the steering column. Remove the towel in the summer because the air coming in around the steering column is cooler that the air coming in off the manifold/muffler on the passenger side.

Re: felt pedal pad
surprised someone hasnt made a rubber flexable seal in place of the felt pad by now.
Would lightly oiling the felt let it slide on the pedals easier so its not getting pushed and pulled from friction as easily?

Re: felt pedal pad
I stick the felt to the plates with weather-strip adhesive, if your pedal bushings are really worn the slop in the pedal probably wears it out quicker and makes the holes larger. That breeze through there is sumptin in the winter Rock on

Re: felt pedal pad
Thanks Steve and Mitch,
We don't have such a plate on our RHD cars. The Model A club in South Australia makes a rubber one that fits reasonably well for our cars

Re: felt pedal pad
Glad to hear you're making one Steve, but I'm sure going to miss that little breeze in the winter!

Re: felt pedal pad
How about making something that fits on the pedal shafts, under the floor, that plugs the holes up when the pedals are in the up position?

Re: felt pedal pad
X 1,000 that. It is VERY uncomfortable driving a Model A in the summer with the heat from the exhaust coming up around the pedals. I've even considered clamping something to the pedal shafts that would seal against the under side of the toe board but there is soooo little clearance between the block and exhaust flange that they wouldn't work. (That's where the clutch pedal goes)
