Default Respirator Question

For use with a supplied air system which do you like, a half face respirator, a full face respirator, or a hood?

For paint I like a full hood with tear-off covers. For the cat box I just use one of the spring clothespins that don't work on the fuel line.

I also use the full hood too as it protects the most.

The number one source of Iso contamination is though the skin. You really want to use the hood for maximum benefit.

Thanks for the replies. I want to use it primarily for painting and but didn't have any info on the pros and cons of the different setups.

yup skin, tear ducts, and inhalation are easy access points.

i think those "paper" tyvek suits would be a good bet, its what the painter uses at work spraying on CAT yellow. He wears full hood with supplied air (puts slight fresh clean air pressure inside the hood so fumes don't get in there), full hood, paper suit that is taped around his boot ankles and wrists and super thick gloves and rubber boots.

When painting aircraft with 2-pack poly, I wear tyvek poly coveralls with a full flow hood. I need to use the hood as I have a beard, and it is the only way to ensure no fumes get in. But even if you don't have a beard, the positive pressure of the air flow through the hood ensures the fumes stay out.

Full paint suit and a full face mask works well. plus you get cool air on a hot day and it's safe. If you can smell or taste the fumes your getting contamination.

The Old Tinbasher
P.S. Devillbiss has a good one that's light weight.
