Default Help Needed - Sediment Bowl Gasket Dimensions

Anyone have the OD, ID, and thickness of the cork gasket for the glass sediment bowl?

The neoprene gasket disintegrated and I need one for this weekend. Going to cut from cork gasket material.

Thanks!

I would think that if you had some 1/8 gasket material, it would work fine.

Just use the glass bowl as a pattern. Measure the diameter of where it fits and make the inside hole a little smaller then the inside diameter of the glass bowl.

The rubber gasket is the whole problem ... has been for years.

Every rubber one I have seen used shrinks up and leaks like crazy.

Cork ones do not shrink

Dang I no longer have the part number but I use a cork gasket for Chrysler products. 60s vintage.

All is good!

I had a sheet of 1/8" cork gasket laying around. I laid the gasket material on a smooth board on my workbench and clamped the upside down bowl on top and used an exacto knife to cut out a (approximate 2" diameter) circle. Then I clamped a socket with a 1.5" diameter centered on the 2" circle and cut around that for the ID of the gasket.

Total cost $0.

FYI, the Sediment Bowl Gasket is the same size as the 28-29 Radiator Cap Gasket.

Not an answer to your question, but in the future consider the cast iron sediment bulb and you will no longer need to be concerned with leaking gaskets......

I never had a problem with a leak until i tried the "new and improved modern rubber gasket". When you need the car running the next day, your choices are limited. Plus satisfaction with no cost DIY fix. I had plenty cork gasket material left so I made a few more to have on hand.

Thanks to all!

Just replaced mine - 2-3/16 x 1-1/2. Soak cork in waste oil before install for longer life.

I've found that the gasket needs to be replaced every time that the glass bowl is removed . I now prefer and use the cast iron sediment bulb, the lead washer-gasket never leaks and can be reused . I also prefer the look of the cast iron bulb . I had one of my model A's to catch fire and burn in the early sixties because of a leaking glass bowl gasket . I have also noticed that it is more likely to get an air lock with the glass bowl setup .
