Thank you for that very generous offer Charlie. I will keep it in mind if we can't get this one fixed. I have great faith that my brother can rescue this one just like he did the first one on my 52 Merc. I think a good part of his living is based on fixing things that other people have worn out or broken. Will keep you posted how it goes in the next day or two.

I'm sure Ralph won't take that as an insult, nor will anyone else who commented.

I felt it was a bit insulting to those who offered suggestions trying to help. But I digress. Back to the carb. This is a picture of the number on the base. Interesting to see it has the same "EAC" prefix as the heads do. In case the picture is too small it reads: EAC-9510-E2 List-694.

EAC-E2 LIST 694 is the correct carb for the '52 - '53 Mercury's.

Manufacture date code is on the top of the hump that goes over the accelerator pump on the top of the bowl cover.

Ralph, I have a couple of parts carbs and a spare screw or two as well, let me know if you need them
Automatic or stick,, a few differences but probably nothing you are dealing with.

Not very interesting

Same carberator?

Most early teapots holley "4000" are larger two barrels. Up till the late 50's if I'm correct. Sure Sal and others know better. Replaced my 57 large two barrel motorcraft with a holley 350cfm. Roundy/round carb. Nothing wrong with the teapot once sorted.

The first Teapot style carb was the 885FF two barrel used on '49 -'51 Lincolns and Mercurys. They did not look the part because they had the side air inlet cover over the bowl. Then '52 -'53 Mercs with the 1901 model two barrel. The 1901 was also used on '52 Lincoln 317's. First teapot 4 barrel was a 2140 model on '53 Lincoln 317's.
Merc and Lincoln also used the 240 model in '54. In '55 all 4 barrels were the 4000 model used on Ford, T-Bird, Mercury and Lincoln. '56 was the last year for this carb on passenger cars except for the '57 Ford/T-bird 312 with two four barrel carbs (E Code).
These carbs with governors were used on some heavy Ford trucks also into the 70's.

Daytona Carbs did the two T pots for my 57 E Bird. I just put them on this
morning and it started right up. They are concerned you don't have dirty
gas. These were about $400.00 each to rebuild. They look like new.
'Also had 3 Carter's rebuilt by American carbs the cost $660.00 including
shipping. They also look like new and will be putting them on, on Tuesday
I hope they start as good. These are for one of my 54 corvettes with the
Blue Flame 6 with 3 carbs. Just had to replace the fly wheel on my 34
roadster. It made an ungodly noise when cranking. We tried 5 starters,
all the same. Turned out to be a bad ring gear. Replaced the fly wheel
and now it sounds and works great, no easy task. G.M.
