The Spindle Connecting Rod Assembly (The Tie Rod)

I am preparing an article on the Spindle Connecting Rod Tube Assembly (Tie Rod) and related items that was used on the Model A Ford.

I have perty much got everything in order except the Tie Rod Tube Assembly itself.

Here is the issue. The first tube, I say "tube" because to my knowledge they were all "tubes" and NOT a solid round bar, had a continuos weld from one end of the tube to the other.

The second "tube" had no weld at all.

It appears that the threaded ends were solid "plugs" that were inserted into the tubing and were either welded or brazed.

So here is my question for those of you who have hopefully noticed and took notes on your 1928 restoration and I am well aware that the Tie Rod Assembly could have been changed out over the years, about when do you think the change was between the welded and non-welded Spindle Connecting Rod (Tie Rod)?

The Part Releases, and unfortunatly I have not viewed the drawings, really do not tell when the cut-off date was but I think it was sometime between
April and November 1928...best that I can figure.
