That wood block is very important. It helps the frame from sagging in that area and helps the pan arms from cracking. The top bolt needs to be tight. The one that goes through the wood block is to be snug, but not bust a nut tight. The pan arm needs to be able to flex and move some, but without the wood block and bolt the pan arm will crack at the 90 degree bend.

Just have a minute before accordion class... Started the radiator mount/restoration today. Spent 2 hours with needle nose pliers working on finnage. Got the heater painted flat black and started painting the shell. Love that yeller! ws

Pretty rusty to begin with, Ground it clean, primered it and got it base coated with puke yellow... I got a bunch for free so I use that as a color primer

All thats followed by 2 coats of Valspar "Transport Yellow" from Fleet Farm. Its gonna look great installed TOMORROW!! Now go sharpen the edge on that snow shovel!

Andy, that's really interesting with that rear bracket. I have always planned to put my bolts in the mounts but now I'll make extra effort to get them back in their. Were the blocks made out of just any old hardwood is it a little more fussy than that.

Bill, the car is going to look good with the radiator cover on it with the black radiator. You've been following a theme since the start of the Pollinator and thats a neat deal. Just make sure Andy's "superbee" moniker doesn't stick. I like "The Pollinator" the best although "The Hornet Express" or "Lizzy's Beehive" are a couple other names that come to mind. But you've been calling the car "The Pollinator" since it conception. Or maybe "The Honeywagon".

Oh yeah, that's what it's all about. Is it going to have an old style steering knob on it with Pats picture inside the knob? And say hi to Pat for me. I sure wish I had some of that potato salad. Going shooting tomorrow for a couple hours. I'm going to put that 45 ACP through it's paces. I've really got a good feeling about it, Especially after taking the carry classes. I think I'm going to take the double barrel down to the black powder place on Wednesday. I'm going to see if I can get a powder horn, a beaded possibles bag and a shot bag of some kind. Then display them above the fireplace mantel. I'll send you a picture once I've got it up. Which is going to be a trick in itself because I haven't been able to get it up for a long time. Got that old radiator bolted in today... the mounting kit from Langs is 3/8 studs with a nut thats >1/2 and <9/16" My closest guess is 11 or 12 MM. Rest of the kit went together kinda OK but when ever its new with fresh paint, its a pain.
Moved on to the firewall from there. BOZO trimmed it out originally FREEHAND with a gas-ax. Couldnt even use a straight edge or grind the slag off. Barely made bucket #1... And mom won the NewMode hosiery with the no-bind top! (?? So I reminisce!). ws

Made some nice shell mount blocks (MIKE!!) and finished of with SS screws ...and some fender washers for the 1/2 hole in the rad frame

True to the barnyard tradition was the repair to the cracked neck. Got a piece of 1-1/2 copper tubing to sweat around to finish it off...

Nothing like trying yo weld on rusty 20 ga. steel! Lotsa little zaps and grind to fit and paint to match! Ive always run 26-27s and find this firewall thing a PITA!!
Got it cleaned up with some new steel, and some "primer" which will be dry by tomorrow.. at least being one color you can see whats going on with it... ws

Not too much to begin with eh? Time frame is "The grass was still green..."

Paint fumes got to me so I KWIT for the day... plus I ran out of primer! Got it done in yellow so at least I dont have to look at that "stool red" paint. We'll see what gets done tomorrow... ws

God how I hate cutting thin stuff with a torch! Besides the saber saw, Sawzmostof-em and a cut off grinder this is my cutting tool of choice! Milwaukee porta band!

Best money I've spent in a long time was on a small grizzly horizontal metal cutting bandsaw that can be moved into a vertical position. A person needs to make relief cuts but there aren't to many profiles that can't be cut.

Went to register my "USED" 1991 mustang convertible into my name today. I decided it was best to be honest about what I paid for it. And I transferred it from collector plates to regular old drive it till it drops plates. It ended up costing me $302.00. This damn state wants $4200.00 more from me in state taxes and I just paid the $302.00 in licensing fees. All this plus the taxes on alcohol and cigarettes and property taxes and 6.75% sales tax and .75 % city tax and then include the $2600.00 I have to pay the federal govt in taxes and I realize just how bad it can get. I also paid to transfer 4 other titled vehicles this last year. When you realize how many people over the age of 21 in this state and you start to wonder how the hell the state can be broke. And did I forget to mention the lottery sales and gas tax and pull tab sales. I also forgot to mention the $100.00 I paid in fees to get my conceal and carry for handguns. Oh and how about the fees for county, state and federal parks. And St Cloud has parking meters. And who know what other fees we have to pay.

From this point forward I swear as God is my witness I'm going to start going to casinos. I hate gambling because it bores the poo-poo out of me but I'd rather give it to the native americans than to the rest of the americans. At least the money they get goes into something that's an improvement. In the last 45 years I have paid a whole bunch of taxes to some black hole out in space and have seen 0 improvements. But enough of that now. I just poured a double shot of Windsor over a couple ice cubes and I'm sipping it as I type. And when that ones done I'm going to pour another double shot of Windsor over some new ice cubes and drink that. And repeat. And when I've done this enough I'm going to get up and try to walk to my bed and all of this won't bother once I hit the floor.

And now it's snowing and tomorrow I'm not going to attempt anything but taking my aching ringing head out to the shop and set-up my sandblaster and try to get a better job done on the pieces of my transmission that didn't really clean up the first time around. I'm becoming somewhat concerned now over the fact that I haven't been putting the time into it that I should. And I got the canvas top for my touring today and it caused me a twinge of guilt. And it's going to be snowing all day tomorrow so I'm going to work on my T. Farmallcub49, I'm going to be checking in to see what your time looks like on March 10th. I have to go to Grand Rapids this Saturday and Sunday but I'd sure like to make some arrangements to get something done before May hits.

Got my buckets today... Thanks Guy! Made a trip out to the shed and pulled the brackets off the old front fenders and all looks well... Im gonna cut the arms off and leave enough left for turn signals. Having trouble decideing between yellow or black on the buckets. Judges? I favor the yellow with chrome rings with some small chrome bullet lites for the signals... ws

Cheated with some spray chrome paint. Anyone convert these to sealed beams???

Good enuff to fool the judges!
