Default Canister oil filter question

Hey everyone. This is my first time here and I have a question already. I have a 1950 ford f1 and it has a large canister type oil filter. I'm wanting to change the filter out but can't seem to find this type of filter anywhere. It's about 4.5 inches in diameter and about 7 inches tall and feels kinda like a sock or some other cloth material. I have attached pictures of the canister and the filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all

I sold a simlar looking filter last year, At the time there were afew replacement elements on e-bay. I did not persue any of them through the normal parts store channels as I did not intend to keep it or use it. Rod

I've heard of guys using a roll of toilet paper in a bypass oil filter, seems to me Scott brand. Its been a long time, maybe someone else can recall.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys. I just got this truck a few weeks ago so I'm sure I'll have more questions along the way. Glad I found the ford barn website.

Clearly not a Ford part. Actually looks like it may be a reusable filter element like the newer K&N. Interesting.

Is there any writing / numbers on the housing? I can see something near the cover, but can't make it out. It appears to be made of cast aluminum.

Yes I think it is cast aluminum. It says "oilpure refinery" on the top of it. The canister is in good shape...just can't find the filter that goes inside the canister.

We just did over a '56 International 1 ton, and it had a similar style filter. May be something to check out.

Thanks GreenMonster. I'm still not having any luck in finding the filter that goes inside the canister. It seems like they may not even make them anymore. I wonder if I could clean this one out somehow and still get use out of it?

Maybe you should consider going to the original canister type for that era that still has the available filters.

very heavy duty oil filter!! have you thought about trying to find a replacement catridge by going to a friendly auto parts store and look thru their supply on the shelf, take the aluminum case with you. Old time farm equipment and highway equipment had filters like that. I have one out of a 38 cabover that is even bigger than that one, also have an army issue one that is at least two quarts
