Default Ammeter connection



Could someone please explain how the ammeter works with this connection.

My understanding!! There is a half circle magnet inside, and the needle is 'suspended' midway. The amount of current flowing through the wire in one direction or the other, has an effect on the needle and/or magnet, giving its appropriate reading. Hope this helps and doesn't add to confusion.

I assume you are talking about the middle gauge, the electricity is kind of like a magnet, charging moves the needle one way discharge the other.

Wire needs to feed through the loop in the right direction. If it is opposite what is required it will read negative while the generator is charging.
