There are lots of replicas like that around. They are very easy to make with your own extras.

Yes, I almost bought one about six years ago.........Teardrops really took off after WWII with all the leftover aircraft material, fuselages/wings, etc

The wheels and tires would have to be changed......

Ed, I know this isn't a teardrop or Model A related but I thought I would share this "camper" built for a 1954 Ford. Notice the top comes off and is used for a boat.
I'll remove it if it gives anyone too much heartburn...

No heartburn here. I've seen several trailers made from the rear end of various utes etc, usually the same as the towing vehicle. Always bring a smile to my face, no matter what that idiot behind me has done!!

Synchro, these trailers were actually made by a company, Kompac Kampers in the early 50's. Made out of fiberglass. Don't know how they got away with using Ford tail lights and styling.

My grandfather had one of those tear drop trailers. My cousin & I use to sleep in it when we visited. We were probably 9 or 10 years old at the time. (early '50s)

Around here, we often see the back of utes up for sale after they are removed to fit some other back to the vehicle. They are put on a trailer frame and w=away they go!

Look at the "Tin Can Tourist" web site. Lots of info including a classified section. Link : https://tincantourists.com/blog/

Here is my thirties era restored camper. A bit bigger and much more comfortable than a Teardrop. 1100 pounds empty and an easy tow for my '30 Coupe.

Gar, your Coupe has no problem pulling that? Is your tow bar commercial or private made?

Nice set up. When I was interested in Teardrops a few years back, I came across that site you posted.

How far have you toured with the camper?

Ed

I saw a pic of a full bodied '32 Tudor trailer. FULL bed & storage was under the HOOD. It was towed by an IDENTICAL car.

Ed, I made the towbar from square steel tubing and TIG welded it together to fit the dimensions of the Coupe.

Have towed the Bowlus with the Coupe only to Chicago area events. For long trips I use my Ford Ranger. The Coupe does very well and easily tows the 1100 pound camper at 45. The camper has very low aerodynamic drag.

It is a bit of a "hazard" on the road due to gawkers not paying close attention to their driving. As if everyone was texting pictures of my rig while driving.

Gar,
I remember you showing Terry and I the Bowlus up in 2012 at Oshkosh. It is very cool indeed. You're a lucky guy! I know Ed and he is probably dreweling! ... as are many of us.
All the best!
