I could see no prominent 1932-1953 Ford V-8 cars in The Godfather (1972).

There are two 1941 Lincolns.

And the 1940 Buick Series 90 Limited is awesome.

I'll check the Godfather II movie soon.

I don't think they wreck the car though. I think it appears that the car is wrecked because of the way they filmed it, edited it and the perspective from which it is viewed. My opinion.


There are some really good shots of this car-- a great rear quartering shot and a good straight on from the front shot. Also a long shot from the side.

Bob Drake owns "thee" 1949 Ford convertible from "Rebel Without A Cause". It was the car with Natalie Wood and Sal Mineo, unchanged since bought. At the time of the studio dispersal Bob could have bought the 50 Merc or any of the cars from the movie, he chose the 1949 convertible, I think he should have bought the Merc. Maybe he'll check in with the whole story.

I have not taken the time to watch this movie yet, but here is the cover of the VHS tape of the movie, "Bingo Long Traveling All Stars & Motor Kings".
It's got to have a 1933-1934 Phaeton in it ! This is, probably, a copy of the movie poster too.
This 1976 movie starred Richard Pryor, Billy Dee Williams and James Earl Jones.

I took the time to watch "The Bingo Long All Stars & Motor Kings". It was a fun movie !
It is loaded with flathead Fords and Model "A"s. The red 1934 Phaeton played a major part and is in most of the first 3/4 of the movie.
The movie was filmed in Georgia, so maybe someone, on Fordbarn, might know who owns some of these cars. It was filmed in 1976.

You don't know what you are asking. The movie takes place in 1939 and most of it is outdoors. If you stopped the movie to record each car, it might take eight hours to get through it.
I might add that they did a pretty good job of making everything authentic. It looks like real rural 1939.
The movie is very predictable, but worth the watch.

No problem.

That's how I do it, but it don't take me 8 hours. I don't record each car, just the 1932-1953 Ford V-8 autos. And if there is a very clear shot of the vehicle, the film does not have to be stopped at all. I do appreciate that era location shots can provide a challenge, but as an historian I live for such tasks. Since most movies only have a couple of Fords that appear only briefly, most movies do not provide a huge challenge or require a large expenditure of time.

Look through this thread. For a very large majority of the movies that I list on this thread, I have actually watched the movie and recorded the Fords in this manner. I watched two movies last night and saw no Fords. I like old movies, so this is not a big deal. I get to see old movies and possibly early V-8 Fords in their natural habitat (and in some cases old America on location).

Since I am pretty busy guy, I can only watch a few movies a week. I do have a list of V-8 Fords on Film that I have been compiling for some time now (I could post every week and it would take a long time to run out of V-8 Fords on Film). I have a lot of movies featuring Fords that IMDb doesn't have.

Mike, Many thanks for the great tip. I am looking forward to seeing a movie that is so rich in old cars and especially old V-8 Fords.
Will be looking for this one. Thanks to all who have posted, I really appreciate the tips.
