Are you thinking of a rear Panhard bar?

I have made a Panhard bar for each of my Model As. The rear end seems to be better nailed to the road but not by a lot.

Can't see where it would be of any use with original suspension.
The radius rods and rear spring setup provide both longitudinal and lateral axle control.
I don't see how you could have a problem with lateral axle movement with the original leaf spring.

Well,
Many years ago, I
Installed rear panhard bar. It was very noticeable how well this equipment made the rear STOP rolling… when cornering !
If you havent tried it… you wouldnt know , eh !
Ive forgotten things. So asking those who might know… where do you shop for pan hard ?

When you corner, the rear axle can move sideways as the shackles move differently on each side. That allows the body to move outwards and how much it moves depends on a few things like how fast you are going around the corner, the weight in the car etc. The Panhard bar sees to it that each shackle moves the same amount. Without it, there is nothing to stop the axle housing wandering about under there which gives the car a mushy feeling in a corner. That's my figuring on it. Others may differ.

I thought about the shackles - But didn't think that limited movement with the weight, speed and power of a model A would make any noticeable difference in handling. Haven't tried it though !

I believe all of the vendors offer Panhard bars. I find that my Town Sedan is more stable in corners and when driving in a crosswind. Your mileage may vary. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/P...earchByKeyword
