I love that thing! I know very little about auto racing but I have heard those hornets gave the big three a run for their money.

yes, famous for racing, but look at the style; look at the low profile side on; almost looks like they're chopped. COOL

She is stunning as Mac V P said . A good looking car is a good looking car ! Find as I get older I learn to appreciate many things In life I often overlooked or took for granite in the past ! Enjoy that beauty . That rear quarter shot is the one that is my favorite ! Wide whites when there needed .

The Hudson Twin H engine is an inline, six cylinder engine 308 cubic inches in displacement.

I think you did good. One thing I learned from buying cars and other things is once you have it you have it. No need to sell it, It's a lot easier to have it, then buy it again. Less you can't care or house it properly and use it, then sell it. Don't let it go to a chop shop guy. Really dig the hudson ya trader. hahahaha. Enjoy!

I believe you are thinking of Packard. They had 9 main bearings and later they punched them out to 356 ci. (I've always wanted one of those.)

Interestingly, the Hudson eights were smaller than the later sixes at 254 ci. The new six was initially 262 cci and ended up at 308 ci in the Hornet. The eights were relatively archaic designs stemming from the Hudson Greater Eights of the early 30's. It was Packard who made the "other" 327 ci 8 cylinder engine.

The Hudson straight 8s were old design, I think splash lube motors that were getting very long in tooth by '52. The 232 - 262 - 308 motor was another story altogether.

During the late '40's, early '50's when Jalopy/Stock car racing was the rage Hudson's pretty well ruled the tracks. The Hudson six cylinder was very reliable and fast, which was very important in stock car racing.
Hudson, Packard and Studebaker barely survived The great Depression, however, they came out of WWII flush with money due to all the war contracts they had. Unfortunetly they wasted a large portion of their new found wealth on dividend's to their stock holder's in lieu of R & D to modernize their product line.
