Default Moon Out Tonight

Not quite full but a big old moon rising over the eastern horizon tonight put me in mind of that "doo wap" song by the Capris. Look it up on youtube. No, this picture was not a real serious cruise with the Merc. I'd been moving almost every vehicle and piece of machinery out of the sheds trying to get combines and swather put away for winter. So as I was parking the Merc back in the shed I drove out on the hill for a few quick photos.

Classic pic, Ralph.

For the non-farming crowd (author included):
A swather, or windrower, is a farm implement that cuts hay or small grain crops and forms them into a windrow. "Swather" is predominantly the North American term for these machines. In Australia and other parts of the world, they are called "windrowers" - Wikipedia

Thanks for clarifying that . Sometimes I forget that our Canadian dialect might not be understood all over the world :-). Yes, the snow melted and I got in 4 long afternoon/nights in the combine to finish up the harvest for this year. Great to be done after weeks of not knowing if it would ever happen.

Very nice picture. Cannot see the stars or much moon from my house in town. I despise all the bright lamps and flashing LED sign's. Thanks for sharing.

Blood on the moon? Photo editing is fun. I did a black and white version myself.

All I can think about when you mention “moon” and crusing in the fifties is Toad in American Graffiti getting embarrassed by a BA.

With or without the effects, it takes a good original! I like the way the OP frames his shots. These use the fence and moon to draw your eye to the center of the image. The empty (sky) space is just as important as the space where the car is. Nicely done!

I took another drive tonight and tried a few shots but the little point and shoot cameras don't handle low light situations very well. Turned out grainy and poor focus. With a good camera it would make for some great scenes.

Ralph, Still this came out very well to my eye! Nothing beats the old film in canisters, a slow ASA, and a tripod. I don't miss the stinky fingers from the printing process! Thanks again for sharing. And if folks haven't seen it, this car has a sorta banged up windshield because of the gravel roads it has lived on for a very long time. I think the stone bruises are charming. For that reason I will have a soft spot for any pic of this dreamy ride!

For sure there are likely 60 years of stone pits in the Merc's windshield. Not a problem most of the time. I think it might show up a bit on this inside shot from tonight.
