You might have better luck in Swap Meet section.

There is a website that restores collector car plates. Actually I think they throw them in the trash and make new ones. Think about new ones. Heck if you want them to look old, you can beat them with a chain.

Try these guys. I think they are in the Milwaukee area.
You will want plates with the ‘C’ weight class to be correct for a Model A Sedan.

When you put the ad in the "Wanted" section be sure to note that the plates must be clear to register the vehicle, if that is what you intend to do. Plates that are not clear are a lot cheaper but you can't register the car with them. My comments are based on California laws and I can only assume yours are the same. Get started early and find out who to call to see if they are clear.

I have a set of two with unique number A3130. They are 31/32 so not sure if they would be proper for your car. Let me know.

In Idaho, plates are "clear" if the DMV has no record of their current registration and sufficient time has passed since the vehicle they were last associated with has been registered. States differ because in some states the plates stay with the car when it is sold and in some states they don't.

Just as a footnote, I lucked out because Idaho only requires one plate on these "year of origination" plates, so I found a 1930 Idaho plate on ebay. It took the DMV about 4 months to clear and approve the plate, even though I sent them an e-mail reminder every month. Then, to get the approval I had to sign a waiver releasing the State from liability because they were approving a plate which did not have reflectorized paint on it!

I'm not wanting antique plates from Wisconsin I want the original type or the original plates from like 1931, to go on my car with the antique plates that I already have these would go in addition to what I already have.

It's like putting original plates with the antique plates that I already have from Wisconsin you can do this in Wisconsin I've seen it done before, I guess you just have to contact the State and let them know what you intend to do with them plus this car will never be a everyday driver just a joy rider that's it.

Have a real nice 1931 Wisconsin single plate 63-448c. Some states only require 1 rear plate . Don't know about Wisconsin.

A Wisconsin plate with multi-years on it, like the one mentioned above as being a 31-32, are for a truck. Car plates ran the calendar year Jan - Dec, truck plates ran a fiscal year, July 1 - June 30 of the following year. I think that began in 1930. Truck plates before that time we’re stamped ‘Truck’, and earliest Wisconsin plates looked the same, car or truck, just different registration fees at the time, based on weight. The ‘A’ prefix would be a light truck.
The chart shown is for automobiles, trucks had higher weight ratings per prefix.

You’ve confused us again. Do you want 1931 Wisconsin plates?

I’ll add to the confusion.
I think what Reggiedog is looking for, are what some people would call the ‘Year of Manufacture ‘ plates, or they type of plate that would have been issued when the car was new.
Wisconsin also offers two series of plates for the enthusiast.
The ‘Collector’ series is offered for vehicles at least 20 years old, and restricts operation during winter months.
The second series is the ‘AntIque’ series, which is available only to pre-1946 vehicles, though they may also be registered with ‘Collector’ series plates. The ‘Antique ‘ series is much more restrictive, I think it only allows vehicles to be driven to and from shows and parades.

Stew,

Thanks for your explanation of Wisconsin license plates. Collect plates from most states. Certainly no consistency state-to-state.

Should be no confusion. YOM (year of manufacturer) simply uses a 1931 license plate on a 1931 registered vehicle. I've got a pair of 30's on my 1930 Ford Phaeton. It looks right and fun when people ask "what year is it".

Thanks for you code sheet, I'll use it.

Question Re: Wanted: To buy a pair of matching wisconsin license plates

Stew,

You hit the head right on the nail as I already have the ( collector ) plates but what I'm looking for are the original type plates to go along with those plates, that say the year of the car like when the car was new like you said Stew they can be original or new doesn't matter to me just as long as there in very good shape and restored if original plates.
