Default New Year New To Us Pickup

We got ourselves a new to us pickup. We are super excited. It has been sitting for a couple of years so I need to do some mechanical stuff on it but we really like her.

Thats the way to get them. I usually start with a roached body and start quilting parts together until I have something that looks like an EV8...

Good Job

Thanks everyone. Yes it's a 33. I need to learn about these trucks now. I would like to know what colors they came in, is this a stock color or close ? Etc Etc . It is going to be a fun learning project . And yes Brendan, there are pictures . They are hosted on the Barn so you need to be logged in to see them .

Mike, that color combo is very close to the original. Years ago I had a nice original 33 with those same colors. A "rouge" pickup that I should have kept.

Hey Tom ,thanks . When we spoke yesterday I forgot to mention we got a pickup. Sorry. We got on a roll talking and it left my mind after talking about the 36 .
I will get some pics of the engine, interior etc etc . It has a later model engine, trans and rear end in it . I hope I don't get bashed for that

Hi Everyone, Brendan, that paperclip beside the thread title is shown when there is a photo or other ATTACHMENT.

The original post has three photos in it, but they aren't attachments. My guess is they are put in as HTML codes.

Brendan, if your computer is as old as your profile pic or the cook at the Ponderosa, that might explain a bunch. You have aged very well by the way.

Thanks Keith. Happy new year to you !! I was very lucky with this truck. The owner waited for me for a while so I could get my "stuff" together to buy this. We feel lucky to be the care takers of this wonderful truck.

Got that tank in yet?

Thanks Flowmeister. I need to learn about these trucks to figure out what is correct and what is not. I don't plan on changing much but I would like to know . I have been eying 32 to 34 pickups for a long time. They are few and far between for sure . We are super excited to finally have a nice one.

BEAUTIFUL '33......wish we lived closer to compare.....does your hydrostatic gas gauge work? I replaced mine with a later ford version. There is a book titled Ford Trucks 1932-19??....has a photo of a black '32 on the cover. Happy New Year!!

Hey Bored and stroked, that second lever thingy is for the Columbia rear end. He decided to manually shift it instead of vacuum. One of the knobs on the dash is for the speedo ratio change. So after it's in overdrive you pull the knob labeled Columbia and the speedo is magically correct !!
Only the speed is an original gauge. The rest are after market SW. It has an oversize tank in it that is coming out. It is very visible at the rear and really looks out of place.

Thanks for the info on the 'second shift thingy' . . . looks to be a simple and reliable way to shift a Columbia (and it looks like it belongs). It is really nice that this truck has a Columbia in that you'll be able to bring it up to modern highway speeds without having to rev the heck out of the engine. All in all, it looks like you've really got yourself a nice truck. My Dad bought a 33 many years ago, but then got too sick to restore it . . . so I've always had a soft-spot for them. Who knows, maybe somebody I'll build one!

Sounds like it was meant to be then Mike. Happy for you! The tank wasn't in long until I was convinced to blow the chassis apart. The frame is getting some slight repairs and then off to media blast and paint!
