Have to agree with most of the guys, I have re-ringed a few v8 flatheads with average wear & generally always come up trumps, strip the block & assess whats required, cleanliness is essential on re-assembly & don't be afraid to use NOS cast iron rings & a very good medium to coarse hone on the bores, use a 15/40 oil & don't pussyfoot
it on the "running in" period. Go Baby. |

Tom, re the rings for your pistons. I've had lots of different make old stock pistons go through my hands for flatheads. They all used standard flathead piston rings. There were some "thick" or "thin" types, but wally at nordians had both types. So Nervous Bob should have both types available, as he has a lot of the Nordian stock.
