Default good place for clutch work

A while back I posted a thread about a problem I was having with clutch chatter after I installed a T5 tranny in my 49 F1. One of the answers I got was to call Fort Wayne Clutch and Drive Line. Turns out that was really good advice. These guys really know there stuff. I sent them the clutch.....they received it at 11.30 am and the very next day they called at 9:30am to tell me it's repaired and explained what they had to do repair it and, that it would be shipped out the same day. To my surprise the price was really reasonable. I would recommend these guys over anyone I ever did business with. And thank you to whoever recommend them.

Harleynut, what did they do to your clutch to fix it? Just curious as it seems to be a common problem.

The three fingers that ride on the throw out bearing were out of adjustment. He replaced the adjustment pads on the ends and set them up so they were perfectly even. I'm talking about the pressure plate. Also, (and this is news to me) there is some kind of lining in between the surfaces of the clutch disc that he replaced with a thicker one. That's how he explained it to me. All I know is, no more chatter.......Joe

Under the face of the clutch plate is a spring plate it is very thin spring steel and acts to slightly expand the lining out ward. gives the clutch plate a soft landing onto the flywheel.

I just had them do a driveshaft for my roadster. Tom,who fabricates the old car driveshafts, did a great job. Very knowledgeable.

They are the only folks I order from. I visited a couple of times and the counter staff was outstanding. Hot Rodding hearts.

Thanks for the reply, it confirms my belief that the new "conversion" discs do not have any marcel and are the chief problem, along with the chinese pressure plates. I took mine out and used an Astro van disc (11") and a used Ford pressure plate. Works like a dream.
