Bubbas
Has anyone had experience with Bubba's Chev-conversion dis't. for 8BAs? I am trying to get info from him, but no response to my email. What's the price, and who's had experience with one? Does he work direct with customers? Thanks.

Re: Bubbas
I've got one on the 8ba in my '39 p/u. Works great. He has been working on a new web site and sometimes he takes a bit to respond but well worth the wait, IMO. Another option is CharlieNY here on the barn. I've never used his Chevy conversion but if its anything like the carb he rebuilt for me its top notch.

Re: Bubbas
Thanks. I've read lots of threads about Bubba, and got good impression about him. What does he charge for the unit?

Re: Bubbas
I guess i am guilty as charged. Pretty hard to get hold of me on the phone some days.
We have shipped 1700 plus of the chevy conversions and they are really nice units, However right now i am way behind getting them done. We are probably 60-90 days out and the orders keep coming in. We are moving the shop starting early June and will be closed for 6-8 weeks , hopefully when the move is complete i will have a new phone system ( same phone number) and a improved web site (www.bubbasignition.com). In the mean time we can turn the early Helmets and two Bolt crabs pretty quick, when you follow the web site instructions etc... http://www.bubbasignition.com/orders--.html |

Re: Bubbas
Thanks, Jim. didn't mean to cause a problem - just wanting to get my '39 coupe on the road when the snow clears here in Ontario! Might have to look at alternatives, since 90 days is well into the season. Thanks for your update.

Re: Bubbas
91A, contact Charlie via PM. He'll respond quickly. Like most vendors, he doesn't generally discuss prices on the public forum. I can say, however, if his distributor pricing is anything like his carb rebuild price, it will be somewhere between "eminently reasonable" and "shockingly low." Great guy who does great work.
Edit: BTW, just to clarify, I wasn't trying to steer the OP toward Charlie vs Bubba; just suggesting that he go ahead and contact Charlie privately if he wants to discuss further. I've been very pleased with ALL the vendors who frequent the Barn in my short time here.

Re: Bubbas
One of the things I like about the great folks we have on here (like Bubba and Charlie), they both do great work and don't pee on each other's shoes. It is nice to have options and a pleasure to see that there is plenty of business out there - no reason to talk poorly about your competition. Let the customer decide who, what, when, how they select a vendor.
