Wow! Don was responsible for putting a lot of smiles on the faces of some of us that thought we'd never "see" (or get to own) some of the legendary "Holy Grail" goodies from yesteryear. I hear tell that he was a pretty interesting and decent sort to boot. Man, our numbers are dwindling as many of us collectively reach that "high-mileage" status. I hate to hear that Don has moved-on. I'd bet that that little deuce that Don is admiring with the Mercury caps and slinky grill probably has some pretty significant eye candy under that hood. RIP, Don! DD

Damn! Just sent him four 81's in April, for what he told me was going to be his Swan Song project. A true Gentleman! RIP.

Gosh, that is terrible news. He was a true Legend in His Own Time and will be greatly missed. Prayers go out to him and his family. Truly one of the great ones.

This is terrible news. I know he was active to the end, because he bought a couple of condensers in March. Four 81's and two "Trash Cans"? I can get a pretty good idea if what he was putting together. It's a shame he won't be able to finish it.

i met don quite a few years ago at the Turlock swap meet. We had a great conversation about his growing up, and what he learned from his father, and older brother. Don was a very successful business man, and a great person, too. When I saw him again at the L.A.R.S. he came over to greet me like i was an old friend. What a gentleman he was. He will be missed by me, and many others.

four of us flathead guys showed up unannounced at his business several years ago. don wasn't there but a secretary called him and in short order he came roaring into the drive in a 12cyl. amg mercedes. he greeted us like we were old friends although none of us had ever met him. he then spent at least 2 hours showing us pretty much everything in his shop, both cars and parts. got to sit in a couple of his famous cars also. i remember three full sets of vintage kinmonts hanging on a wall! what a treat and what a great guy. rip, don.

He and I traded parts on a few different projects - always a great guy, knew what he was after and was a good negotiator (guess you needed to be - given all the stuff he was into over the years). He did a lot of good for our world, created/reproduced a lot of rare or unique parts - just a solid car guy in the end. RIP Don - you will be missed for sure!

I am truly saddened to hear this news. I spoke with him on the phone once and found him to be most friendly and helpful. Don was responsible for reproducing to very high standards so many oh so desirable parts.
