Don't have pics up close on hand, restored a 39 1 ton & there is a hinge on the gas tank that mounted the bottom with cotter keys & there are slots in the cab bracing that iron pegs fit into that hold the plywood backing to the back of the cab. If you need pictures I can get some. Truck is put away for the winter.

The Hokey A$$ Message Board (HAMB) is part of the Jalopy Journal web-site that is run by the same fellow that is currently running the Ford Barn. There is a link to it in the Forums page.

My 38 has post that the seat drop on. couple holes to adjust.

The seat has hinges. I'll take my seat out today and take some pictures. Thought I had pictures of the seat when it was disassembled (just the wood platform and springs), but can't find it. The seat is reupholstered now and probably wont show as much as you'll like to see.

Here is an old picture of the seat riser.

Here's what I have, this is for a 38. I don't know if it identical to the 39 but just about everything is interchangeable for the most part between the 38 and the 39.

The seats don't "attach", they set down on the seat riser. The bottom spring assemble has holes in the plywood bottom at the front to serve as fore and aft adjustment.

I'll have them on my truck tomorrow, if you are at the car club meeting, or else I'll see you Tuesday eve. I will leave them with you to figure out what you need to do.

This is so helpful. My 38 1 ton does not have the riser and the posts are part of the tank. Do I just need a piece of wood at the back of the cab as shown above to hold the back up?

As you can see the bottom of the seat is adjustable. 3 positions. Get out the truck and lift the bottom of the seat and drop into the hole that works. Grated the back of the seat didn't move much!

The standard 38-39 there is two metal pieces that run off the seat back spring that slides into a notch in the cab center band structure. I put some rubber tube over the seat extensions as the metal on metal was starting to create a metal squeak.
