Most Fords, including Model As, did not come with whitewalls

White walls are fine on an A as long as they are double sided as original.

I have looked at lots of old street scene photos of the Model A era and just have never seen white walls on an A. They look great but I do not believe they were period correct.

I think it depends on what period you are talking about. If you look at what Model As looked like in the 40s you see more white walls and later wire wheels used.

I tend to agree that white walls shouldn't be on a Model A.
I have them on my '30 Deluxe coupe, but the next set of tires will be black.

It is apparent the artist of this era Ford ad thought whitewalls might be appropriate.

People some education is in order. If you look at real old pics of tires all tires were white. The whole tire was white. The reason was the composit of tires back then had a lot of gum/rubber that actually was white or off white, cream infact. Later the tire companys addes a black dye to them because the tires were scuffing with marks due to lack of roadways like we have today. So yes the white wall tire was here before the black one were. That is my 2 cents and if i offended anyone then to bad!!!!!!! Knuck from indiana.

Your right, some people need an education. Early automobile tires were made entirely of natural white rubber, however, the white rubber did not offer sufficient traction and endurance, not scuffing, so carbon black was added to the rubber used for the treads.

Tires from on ford on non deluxe cars during the model A times were all black from the factory.

As far as "WHITEWALLS" old Fordbarn guys know how i feel about them. They don't belong on a Model "A" !!!!!!!! I would go even further 1934... 1935 and up i can see.

If you're not into judging, then go for the ww's if that's what turns you on. My preference would be w/w's on any older car if it's basically dark colored...
