Default 21 Stud block, stud location dimensions?

Hi Everyone. It came up in conversation recently... Does anyone have the x & y dimensions of the 21 stud block's, stud locations? Something like a parts drawing for a cylinder head should work. Simple, right?

they are the same (24 & 21) except for the bottom row. If you are looking for 'approximate', any of us could measure the bottom row for you.

As I understand it, the piston centers and reddish-blue studs in the image below are identical to the 24-stud. The fully-blue studs are different. Distances between studs could be calculated relative to the 24 stud dimensions and reference-scale to the image. Jack E/NJ

The Green Bible lists all the studs and their exact length. A head gasket would give you the spacing.

Anyone have the length of studs and in which position they go on a 21 studder?

They are different depending on what heads you use, just ask Danny from north QLD

I too would be interested in length of studs and which position on a 21 stud block. I think there's a length difference in either aluminum or cast heads....?

Well, I'm sure the folks making parts (such as heads, gaskets, etc) do, but it might be difficult to get them to part with the information. There was a guy who posted on the Barn a few years back that was working on a 3-D model of a flathead engine. He might have that information but don't remember what name he posted under (it was Flysafe, but his last login to the Barn was in Aug 2015). If there is a real desire to have the data, take a head or block or whatever to a shop with the digital equipment to measure the positions. For quick and dirty use a head and transfer punches to mark locations.

The Ford archives should have the original head/block drawings.

If you can work with a DXF or Autocad file, PM me your email address and I'll send you some files. I asked here a couple times and no one had the data so I CMMed some 24 and 21 stud head gaskets and turned the data into digital files. Not the same as having genuine original Ford blueprints, but the holes are symmetrical and consistent and good enough to make parts from. The image Jack E/NJ posted is one I posted here.

How would someone (like me) go about getting them from there?
