Default Pluck

Thanks for the complement in the now closed thread about Dan Price. For followup, the engine I was working on would start dribbling oil out the filler in 5 minutes at a fast idle before work. It now was run for 45 minutes at a fast idle (800-1200 RPM approx) and now not only does not dribble but it does not leak anywhere. Combustion in this manner can push gaskets out and make oil leak from everywhere. All this was because of one set of scraper and compression rings that were not set at 180 degrees from each other. These were right over each other. I guess anybody can make a mistake, it is how you handle it that does matter.

Rings move as the pistons move. Expecting them to not line up in the future is a misnomer.

My father used to say, "The mark of a good business is not what they do when things go well, but rather how they handle things when they don't."

Ponder this: IF piston rings migrate round & round, by now they would have designed rings with a dowel pin & a little bitty hole in the bottom of the ring groove??? (Just thinkin') Bill W.

A lot of 2 stroke engines have pinned rings to keep the ring ends from winding up in the port area.

I was about to say that. My Suzuki 2 stroker has dowels in the ring grooves to hold the rings in the correct orientation.

My Dad always said that warranty was the best, when you didn't have to use it!!

I was wondering the same thing, as well as what does "25" by Blessyou boys mean?

Anyway these numbers reminds me of a joke.
These guys were in prison and Frank yelled out 76 and everyone started laughing. A bit later Jim yelled out 83 and everyone broke into laughter again. Sam asked Jim what this was all about. Jim said that in prison there isn't much to do but tell jokes, and there are so many jokes that they just give them numbers instead of telling the whole joke. So Sam yelled out 43 and there was dead silence. Sam yelled out 16 and still dead silence. Sam asked Jim why no one laughed when he yelled out his joke numbers. Jim said "I guess you just don't know how to tell a joke"
