slow/hard start/cranking when hot issue solved

I posted this at the end of a lengthy thread call "Down to 2" - but thought it may help others with a better title and my fix. Note: This only applies if you have an electric fuel pump as a main fuel source.

As mentioned above, I had an issue with slow cranking /hard start when car got hot. After many things tried and replaced, what I found was the previous owner had wired my electric fuel pump direct to the ignition terminal of the on/off switch.

The fix:
I ordered 10 gage wire and a 6 volt relay off ebay. I wired the 10 gage wire from the battery side of soleniod to the relay with a 30 amp fuse. This is now the main power for the fuel pump. I took the ignition wire and put it to the gage terminal of the on/off switch. Added grounds, followed the other wiring for relay and that seemed to have fixed the problem.

I took the car out, got it hot, shut off and re-stated 5-6 times and it cranked like I would have expected it should. So, I think that finally solved my long dreaded issues with when the car got hot

Glade you published your fix. This is a very common problem with the flathead V8 engines. Good job.
