Newbie Intro.
Greetings!
I've been a member here for a little while but never had anything to add, I bought a 1930 Tudor six months ago and found this site, which has really helped me get the car going. I found the car in a backyard in the Los Angeles area (really, really cheap...), it was on jackstands with a rotted out plastic cover on it. After trailering it home, I perused this site, changed the oil, added water to the radiator and she fired up. I’m typically a hot rod and vintage Triumph motorcycle type of guy and have a pretty well equipped shop at home, I think I’m going to leave the car pretty much as-is and just get the mechanicals straightened out. It looks like it had a pretty poor restoration some time in its life…… I’m thinking the 70’s maybe? I don’t know too much about stock model A’s so any comments (good or bad) is appreciated. I have a video of it running and would like the experts here to listen to it and let me know how it sounds. To me, it sounds like it has a knock occasionally. As soon as I figure out how to put a video up I’ll post it, or link to Youtube. So far, I changed the fan, front motor mounts to stock, and a few other things..... Thanks, Steve |

Re: Newbie Intro.
Great find -- not often one comes upon such a deal for a mostly unaltered Model A.

Re: Newbie Intro.
Welcome ;
If the fan is original steel fan suggest you change it out to an aluminum or plastic fan . The original fans crack and come apart . Do a search and see the comments . |

Re: Newbie Intro.
Good looking car, congratulations, and welcome. I have owned a few Triumphs myself. On of my favorites was in the 70's, a Bonnie 750, with a Sidecar. I run a Royal Enfield with a Sidecar today.

Re: Newbie Intro.
Thanks for the warm welcome! One of my Triumphs is a 67' TR6 that had a sidecar which I recently removed, and I'm building a 73' motor (750, 5 speed, right hand shift) to go into a 70' frame, this will be a bobber type bike.
Here's a YouTube link to my model A engine running, I haven't done much to it besides a new rotor and cap and rebuilt the water pump and carb, other than that, this is how I got it..... For $1,200....... There's a long story that goes with my purchase......... http://youtu.be/-cYDtppRCU4 |
