Default Western Union

Guys - Paying someone in the US for some parts and he prefers Western Union.

I have never used them, they are not well used in the Uk.

Can someone tell me how this works - I see on the Western Union website that I transfer money in but how does the USA guy get it out - is this a common used service over there ?

And is it safe ?

Bob

It is sort of like PayPal but with a "store front". You can either wire the money to a location and he comes in, shows ID and fills out paperwork (I think) or you send him a Western Union money order and he can deposit it in a bank like a personal check. You have to go to a Western Union location however and buy a money order.

Stay away!!! If you pay by Western Union and the deal does not go your way you CANNOT get your money back! It is NOT like Pay Pal!

Be careful, being accross the pond, if the deal goes bad, you will have no recourse. If it is an eBay auction, check his feedback and be sure he has sold a number of similiar priced items as well as similiar type items. Some people have opened eBay accounts sold a few cheap items to build some feedback, then scammed on a high priced Auction.

I would not do the deal if they only take Western Union, there is a good chance you will be scammed and lose your money.

I have taken checks from the UK and waited for them to clear, but that was for my protection. I'm not sure how you would protect yourself in this transaction barring some type of escrow set-up, or if you had an agent in the US to complete the transaction, (or deal with me).

DO NOT USE WESTERN UNION OR MONEY GRAMS for transactions, those are scammers play ground, once you send the money and the person gets it there is no way for you to get it back, if thats the only way he wants to transact the deal i wouldnt do it, better to lose the deal than all of your money
