Default 55-56 ford mercury tech

can anyone tell me here if 55 and 56 mercury front fenders will interchange? i need a whole front clip for a 56

The fenders are close. The differences are likely due to trim type & placement so the holes are likely in different locations. As far as the whole front clip, I don't know. All the parts would have to be checked for similarity. All I can tell you is that the part numbers are different but that doesn't mean they can't be reworked.

Ford liked to use their major sheet metal dies for several years to keep cost down but changes could be significant sometimes.

Go to this link. On post #340, there is a Ford Ranch Wagon with a '55 or '56 Mercury front clip installed, including the massive front bumper. Don't really know if any modifications were needed, but this guy (or gal) did it.
