Re: Lower front of 35
Sure you are on the right forum? Bagged cars are great. Dig the lowrider stuff a ton, certainly paint and detail. Not so much the hillbilly rat rod stuff. Just curious if your comments helped the OP. |

Re: Lower front of 35
Think Ill leave it. With the tires I have on its stance not that much different than a mild lowering. Someone said not too much, I agree after looking around then looking @ mine again. I think just the hydraulic brakes alone is fine

Re: Lower front of 35
Good call, Anthony...it's a great looking car and very stylish as it sits now. I like it!

Aesthetically on a 34+ car if the fender openings or at or just below the tire it fills the opening. Not necessarily with a truck as more clearance is better. Nothing saying a car with a little lift is bad or not correct. Just a dime a dozen opinion. Trends are not set by doing what everyone else is doing either. If you care about that. I'd just drive it and have fun. It's a very nice ride. Last edited by Tinker; 06-26-2021 at 11:35 PM. |

Re: Lower front of 35
Thx DD & Tinker! Was a great find in 2012. Funny & a bit sad story. My 90 ur old mom’s girl friend mentioned to her, she had a car that was her 30 years deceased husband in her garage since. Garage was pseudo heated as two wall joined to house & exterminated regularly too. My mom says my son can help. Thought I was gonna see a 1985ish POS. Got there & it was covered but could see by the height it was something interesting! Pulled two covers off outside & another covering interior. Virtually no dust or dirt outside or in the perfect interior! A bit hazy from sitting. That’s the good the bad no motor, tranny or radiator. With only experience on OV engine type Rides & none on early Fords I had to buy it & the adventure began! Evidently before the gentleman died he had some thief working on engine & told him it’d be easier if he pulled defective stuff & he’d fix at his shop. Turned out th be a crook & was never heard from again. The husband obviously didn’t checkup on the guy before using & turned out to be a Shyster & stole the engine tranny & radiator. Guy died a year or so after.

Re: Lower front of 35
AnthonyG , your car looks very nice now for sure, like others said, reverse eye will drop it a nice amount if you want to make a small change. Big n little tires are cool too, I did both and like the stance. 550s up front and 700s in back. Enjoy!

Re: Lower front of 35
Tom urs looks great! Actually the pic of mine has big & smalls. Went with modern tires sizes & mounted up to my wires fine. Speedway has reverse eye spring for $85. It’s cheap enough I might get it. Drops the front about 1”-2 1/2”’s.

Re: Lower front of 35
If your 1935 Ford looks as good as the 1936 Ford, why would you want to change it? |

Re: Lower front of 35
The only thing is, and I don't recall anyone mentioning it on this thread, is that running a reversed eye spring reduces the amount of suspension travel, whereas with a dropped axle
you'll still have the original full range. When I lowered my 35 I used the whole gamut; rev spring, drop axle, low profile tires. Made up lowering blocks for the rear and fitted a reversed eye leaf to the rear spring. Too low; looked good, but ride was severely compromised. I refitted original main leaves front and back. My 2c

Re: Lower front of 35
Curious little thing about reversing a spring is you can make an arch curve of the main leaf on the garage floor with some chalk, then with some blocks and a bit of patience on a press you can turn that curve around and then put the main spring into the original spring pack. No need to heat and roll the ends. Yes this will change the shackle angles also.
Any new reverse eye spring will give you more lift then what you are trying to take off with that old regular spring. Reverse eyes can be a bear to install. If I wanted 2" up front. I'd go with a drop axle even with all that it takes to do so. Leave the spring alone if in good condition. But if you want a little on a budget. . Last edited by Tinker; 06-29-2021 at 12:09 AM. |

Re: Lower front of 35
I installed a 4" drop axle and removed three leafs from the stock spring. It did the job nicely!
