went ahead and ordered Lake Country “Kompressor” foam pads. Am VERY pleased with the result ... makes even this ol amater look (pretty) good ... apparently the design is such that they are very forgiving around curves etc..

would appreciate any comments on preferences for (1) rubbing compound and (2) polishing compound following 2000 grit wet sanding of PPG Concept. a friend gave me a coupla 3M products but am close to running out of them with a lot more paint to buff.

3M has a round pad that can wet sand to 3000 grit, really takes the time out of the buff, be careful with the foam pads, they heat up just like the wool ones and burn just the same, use a sprayer and keep all of your surfaces cool.

Compound called TOTAL..around $39.00 qt. buff around 900 rpm with buffer, compound stays on the car, buffed out my 'A' Myself, im not a body man but this stuff works great..refered to me by a proffesional bodyman with 40 years under his belt..told me its the best he's used..claim you can do around 4 cars with a qt..PS as u can see the car turned out great..Im a happy camper!

The best compound(s) I have found is a pair of new products from Meguiars M105/205. Start with the M105 on one of your coarser pads(orange). Then follow up with M205 on a white pad. I use the Lake Country CCS Pads from Classic Motoring Accessories LTD. Check out their website properautocare.com for many helpful tips on compound and pad combinations and for more info on the M105/205 combo. Hope this helps.
