Default Muffler ID? Looks like 32 B, but is it?

This came with a car I bought and was said to be a model b replacement muffler from the 30's. Numbers don't match up to the green book. Says FOMOCO CM42 06201 one side is a 2"ID at the adapter and the other is 1.5" it is 27" long and 7" in diameter. What say you?

I think that is Imco CM42. A replacement muffler. I did a search and a 2011 catalog said no longer available.

It could well be as it was said to be, a replacement muffler for a '32 B (as well as '33-'34 fours and all '32-'34 V8s) if the orientation of the outlet pipe relative to the inlet pipe is as original. Viewed from the rear of the muffler, with the inlet pipe in the six o'clock position (like in your third photo) the outlet pipe should be in the two o'clock position.

The extra section of pipe on the inlet side is extraneous.

Amazing how my brain can trick my eyes. Probably because I was not familiar with IMCO.

Took a while to get back to this. I knew it had Ford on it some where. It is on the inlet end. And with the inlet at 6:00 the outlet is at 2:00.

It's the Ford service muffler supplied starting in either late '34 or early '35 when the production version of the '32-'34 one-piece muffler/inlet pipes were no longer supplied for service and the pipes and mufflers were serviced separately.
