Default 1935 Ford 5 Window Paint

I have 1935 5 Window coupe, I would estimate the original paint on the body at 80%. All 4 fenders need body work and painted no question. My question is should the body just be touched up and match fenders as close as possible? Or repaint the entire car? I understand there are alot of factors, but what in terms of value and best practice for restoration would be the best route? Pics for reference.

From what I see, the black paint looks good. After doing the body work including the fenders, I would touch up the body and paint the fenders off the car then reinstall them.

The dents that are there show its history ,any car like that that turns up to car shows will get people around like bees to a honey pot ,it depends whether you can stand the patina ,paint the left fenders only first with a reddish Maroon primer ,Ted

Ted- not being a painter, educate me on the color of the primer. Why reddish maroon?

Thanks,

Not being a 'painter' myself, I've run into this same situation over the years while squirting my own paint. A couple of quotes below from the H.A.M.B. explain the biggest reason far better than I could have put into my own words. DD
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

" Any color primer will work but you will need to apply more paint the more contrast there is between colors."

"A primary reason to use like-colored primers is reduce the amount of paint needed to for complete coverage. When just learning to paint, I made the mistake of using a light primer on a section of a truck bed when I ran out of dark primer. When I painted the truck, the entire bed had the same number of coats. However, when out in the light, there was a significant lightening of the paint where the light primer was used."

Great looking car! Do you have any photos of it all together before you started? I have a 35 5w also but my old black paint isnt anywhere near as good. I always like to see others without whitewalls tires.

Thanks for all the responses, actually its the dearborn blue color, just bad lighting in the shop. I do not have any pictures of it completely assembled that are digital, grandfather bought it in 1952, sat in garage till 1996 him and i started in it and got it that far. Just started back on it a month ago!, So onward and upward, we have it running and rewired, inside torn out, ready to repaint inside!
